Father Theodore Mascarenhas grew to become Auxiliary Bishop of Ranchi in 2014. His older brother, Father Sebastião Mascarenhas, will take over as Bishop of Baroda in February.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant lately met Sebastiao Mascarenhas and mentioned Goa was honored to witness the ordination of two bishops from the identical household.

The brothers are monks of the Missionary Society of St. Francis Xavier. They’ve one other brother and sister who dwell in Kamurlim village of Salsette district in South Goa district.

Their sister, Maria Diaz, mentioned that the appointment of her second brother as a bishop, a high-ranking Christian priest, introduced nice pleasure to the household.

“Thank God for the household’s success,” he says.

“This can be a very uncommon reward. This can be a blessing for us, for our village,” says Dias.

Goa CM Sawant met Sebastiao Mascarenhas earlier this month.

On January 3, the CM mentioned on Twitter: “Delighted to fulfill the Bishop-elect of Gujarat, Baroda. Delighted to fulfill Sebastiao Mascarenhas.
